“What is that awful noise?”
“It’s not noise, Dad. It’s music!”
“Noise” is another word for “sound”, but it has a negative connotation. Noise is a sound that is unpleasant, or that we don’t like. If there is a lot of noise in a certain place, that place is “noisy”. A thing or person that makes a lot of noise is also “noisy”.
「この酷い騒音は何だ？」
「騒音じゃないよ、お父さん！音楽だよ！」
Noise は「音」と言う意味の単語ですが、否定的な意味合いがあります。不愉快な音、嫌いな音のことをさします。ある場所にたくさんのnoise があれば、その場所はnoisy （うるさい）です。うるさい人や物もnoisy です。
