“Why is the train so late? I’m in a hurry.”

“I’m sure it’ll come any minute now.”

Something is going to happen soon. It could happen at any minute: this minute right now, the next minute, the minute after that, and so on. As for “now”, it means that previously (perhaps an hour ago) it was not so imminent, but now it is.



もうすぐ何かが起こる。もういつ起こっても不思議じゃない:今すぐ、次の瞬間、その次… なぜ「now」がついているかと言うと、前(例えば一時間前)はこんなにすぐに起こりそうではなかったけど、今は迫ってきているということです。
