Picture of the Week: Butterfly Wing

This is a close-up of a butterfly wing. Butterflies are considered very beautiful because of their large, colorful wings. Butterflies’ wings look flat, but actually they are covered in tiny scales. The scales can come off without hurting the butterfly.

これは蝶の羽のアップです。蝶は大きな鮮やかな羽を持つので美しいと思われています。蝶の羽は平たく見えますが、実は小さな鱗に覆われています。鱗が落ちても別に蝶に害はありません。
