“A close call” is an accident, injury, or other bad thing that almost happens but is just barely avoided. It could be very serious: you almost died, but survived through luck. It could be a small thing: you didn’t know the answer in class, and the teacher looked at you but then called on someone else.




「Close call」とはぎりぎりで避けられた事故、怪我など悪いできごとです。深刻な場合は、死にそうなところを運よく生き残った。小さな日常的な例は、答えがわからないときに、先生がこちらを見て、結局別の生徒にきいた。
