Paul: Let’s make it lunch. I rarely get out of bed before noon on the weekends.
Something that happens rarely does not happen very often. It happens only occasionally. It is not impossible. Paul probably does get out of bed before noon on the weekend at least a few times a year. But he needs a very good reason.
タッカー：こんどの日曜日一緒に朝ご飯食べようよ。
ポール：昼食にしよう。ぼく、週末は昼前に起きることがあまりないんだ。
めったにないことは頻繁には起こりません。たまにしか起こりませんが、あり得ないことではないです。ポールはおそらく年に何回か週末の午前中起きることがあるでしょう。でもよほどの理由があるときだけです。
