Trivia of the Week: Marsupials

Marsupials are a kind of animal that has a pouch. Babies live in the pouch after they are born. The most famous is the kangaroo. There are many other kinds too, including koalas. Most of them live in Australia, and many others are found in South America. But we have a marsupial in North America too: the Virginia opossum.

有袋類は袋を持つ動物の種類です。生まれたばかりの赤ちゃんは袋の中で育ちます。一番有名なのはカンガルーですが、他にもコアラを含む多くの動物がいます。ほとんどはオーストラリアに生息しますが、南アメリカにもたくさんいます。北アメリカにも一種類だけ生息するキタオポッサムがいます。
