Picture of the Week: Cranberries

Cranberries are unusual because they grow in the water of bogs or wetlands. When cranberries are harvested, more water is added so that when the machine picks the cranberries they float to the top. They have a sour and bitter taste so they are usually eaten with sugar.

クランベリーは沼地や湿地帯で育つ珍しい果実です。収穫の際は敷地に水をはり、水面に浮かぶクランベリーを機械ですくい取ります。酸味と苦みがあるので、砂糖などで加工して食べます。
